Widescreen Format
The wide screen format with its 16:10 aspect ratio offers more horizontal viewing space than conventional monitors. Two applications such as a text document and web browser can be viewed side-by-side, or graphics applications can be opened and work palettes displayed simultaneously without any overlap.

Unobtrusive Speakers
0.5 watt speakers are hidden at the bottom so you can enjoy sound while bezel size is kept to a minimum. For those requiring greater volume, the separate i-Sound L3 sound unit with dual 0.9 watt speakers can be attached to the bottom of the screen to focus sound directly at the user.

6 ms Midtone Response Time
An overdrive circuit improves the LCD panel's response time for smooth playback of moving images such as streaming video.

BrightRegulator
This function keeps the screen at the ideal brightness level under all lightning conditions. A sensor on the front panel takes readings of the ambient brightness and signals the backlight to adjust the screen brightness accordingly. Since the screen is never too bright, energy is saved and eye fatigue reduced.

Brightness Stabilization Function
A drift correction sensor quickly stabilizes the brightness level after startup or coming out of power saving mode. It also detects and automatically compensates for brightness changes caused by surrounding temperatures and the passage of time.

Configurations Conducive to Trade
When grouped with other EIZO monitors, more open and better-fitting multi-panel configurations are the result, such as in the diagram below, where the central widescreen monitors provide greater overall screen space with minimal bezel. By combining the S2431W with 21" monitors (FlexScan S2100) the configuration is a perfect fit to the standard 1,500 mm trading desk. One advantage of this kind of configuration is the open line of sight that allows traders to communicate face to face and not feel "fenced in" like they can with conventional two-row configurations. It also contributes to work safety as traders will have better visibility of what is happening in front of them. Because the monitors have the same number of pixels per inch, eye strain is not a concern when glancing from screen to screen.

USB 2.0 Hub
This one upstream, two downstream hub facilitates high speed (480 MB/s) connections with other USB peripherals.

Fine Contrast
For optimum viewing of different kinds of content, EIZO's Fine Contrast function includes modes for office applications (Text mode), video clips (Movie mode), graphics (Picture mode), web browsing (sRGB mode), and user-defined settings (Custom mode). Switching between modes is done by pressing a button on the front panel or by using the bundled ScreenManager Pro for LCD software, which supports automatic mode switching such as changing to Text mode when an e-mail application is selected.

Product Information Display
The product name, serial number, and total usage time can all be confirmed in the on-screen display menu.

HDCP Support
Support for high bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP) through the DVI-I input allows for viewing of content from HDCP-equipped devices.

Free Mount Capability
Panel can be removed from its stand and mounted on VESA-compliant arms or stands.
